Solid-state relays (SSR) are electronic switching devices with no mechanical moving parts. They consist of components such as an optocoupler, trigger circuit, power semiconductor switching devices (like transistors or triacs), a carrier board, and electronic components mounted on the carrier board. Their operation is based on the optocoupler's light-controlled switching effect: when a certain voltage or current is applied to the control terminal, the optocoupler’s optoelectronic element (such as a phototransistor) generates a corresponding light signal. This signal is used to control the on-off state of the internal power switching device, thereby controlling the current-carrying circuit.

Solid-state relays feature zero-voltage triggering, meaning that switching occurs only near the zero-crossing points of the AC voltage when the control signal changes. This reduces electrical interference during switching operations. Compared to traditional mechanical relays, solid-state relays have no mechanical moving parts, which avoids mechanical wear, extends lifespan, and prevents electrical contact wear or burning from frequent switching. Their lack of mechanical components results in faster switching speeds and shorter response times, allowing for high-frequency switching operations.

Solid-state relays can handle various types of loads, including AC and DC loads, and offer output current protection and overload protection functions to ensure safe system operation. They are commonly used in applications that require high-speed, high-reliability, and long-lifetime switching control, such as in industrial automation, machinery control, power electronics, and various electronic devices.
